Smile it looks good on you

I recently read Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson, simply put, I sort of liked it at first but now…not so much. At first I thought, hey this is a good book it shows readers how bad anorexia is, how bad it can affect ones life and how it can hurt them so much. And I just assumed that was how all readers would see it and probably what Laurie intended it to be. The other day my sister was saying how every time she finishes a book she looks it up on Tumblr to see what others say about it, well I decided to do that today….I wasn’t expecting to shed a tear when I did it. I was so overwhelmed by what I saw, Wintergirls became more of a ‘handbook’ for anorexia then a guide to help people get over the disease like I thought. I’m so sad that so many people suffer from such disorders, I feel they just need someone to talk to, for someone to listen, for someone to understand. I wish all those that use Wintergirls has a handbook would just go to the last chapter and read it a million times, see how excited Lia is to be getting help, to be finally getting over what she’s been suffering through for so long. Just look at the rest of the book as a sad story of a girl that needed help and finally got it. Read the chapter where she finally talked to her therapist and just spilled everything to her, read how relieved she was to just get everything out. I just want everyone to remember there will always be someone to talk to just find a person who is willing to listen, I’ve always been there for people cause I know how it feels to think there isn’t anyone there, that your all on your own and no one could ever help. Trust me there will always be someone, even if it’s a complete stranger on the internet. What’s the worst that could happen? I have nothing but love for everyone and I know there has to be others that do as well. <3
